19th century apothecary cabinet having 45 drawers. This fine cabinet is from the late 19th or early 20th century Ming style herbal cabinet, from Northern China. The top opening has serpentine carving (a little filigree) on three sides and a chisel lip on the bottom of the opening.
There are forty-five (45) apothecary herbal drawers that are divided into four compartments (each drawer is 5 by 4 inches and 21 inches deep) and the three larger sized bottom drawers. The herbal drawers have Chinese writing in black paint on each side of the pulls adhered to the front and it looks like they melt into the finish.
It is made of the regions elmwood, very tight hard grain and beautiful color. Please be advised that Greenwich Living assumes no responsibility.
